Recent Photoshoots in Los Angeles

It’s been a minute, the last COVID wave in the winter slowed down work quite a bit, and I wasn’t able to do as many fun portfolio shoots. I’m back at it full force now, but I need to update everyone about the last few shoots that I’ve done. I’ve changed my philosophy quite a bit regarding which types of models I work with. My previous few shoots had a strong preference towards lesser-known models that I know would show up, not cancel, not be overbearing, know how to pose, and have a tremendous amount of talent. Working with influencers & well-known models isn’t always the best experience, primarily since I shoot such a wide variety of images. Typically, when working with bigger models, they would look at my expansive portfolio, pick what they are the weakest at, and tell me that they would only shoot that specific concept. I found myself shooting only the weaknesses of these big models and wondering why the photos weren’t gaining any traction on their page. I spend a ridiculous amount of time learning and expanding my abilities, so I can be as versatile as possible, I don’t have a social life because of it, and it’s a bit of a gut punch to be penalized for well-roundedness, essentially. I’m rebuilding my network from the bottom up. I’m only working with models that respect the fact that during every shoot, I’m doing the scouting, storytelling, creative direction, photography, editing, directing, and acting as the location owner for in-studio shoots (which has its own set of challenges). I do get kind of jealous that a majority of people have to show up while I do everything else, so at the very least, I need people who trust and respect the vision. I need to be fully invested in what I do.

The result of this change in philosophy: my best work by far. Here are some examples of test shoots that I’ve done recently
