Efficiency, quality, experience, and creativity in a personal, meaningful manner are what I strive for. When someone works with me, I expect them to be utterly thrilled with our headshots. I need them to know that they hired the best headshot photographer for the job and that I really care about them. They need to understand the countless extra hours devoted to mastering this profession, so it translates to their photographs. My entire business model is built around this philosophy. My goal is to simply be there for my clients in any way possible.
An experience in front of the camera
I’ve found that my sessions are more than an experience where people get their pictures taken. This is an experience where people learn about themselves gain confidence and appear engaging and approachable. I don’t always love using the word “attractive” because I don’t think that’s a proper goal. Attractiveness is subjective and determined by way more variables than physical appearance. You want to be confident, engaging, exciting, and dynamic. I’m able to teach these things to my clients in front of the camera. This is a learning experience, and my clients get progressively better a being in front of the camera during the shoot. Typically people say, “I don’t look good in front of the camera” or “I hate the way I look in pictures”. However, these people have also typically never had a professional take their image. They’ve never had professional lighting set up for them nor have they been giving guidance on how to position themselves for a photograph. My sessions have an empowering effect for the client that goes way beyond the images that they receive.
Professional, Realistic Retouching
An unedited photo is only half a photo. Even if the skin isn’t retouched, the rest of the photo needs to be adjusted and the difference will be night & day. Photo retouching/editing is so important that I include retouching with every photo. Most clients have probably never worked with a photographer that is capable of actual professional retouching, so it’s my job to inform them of what actually happens during editing. Editing a photo consists of a few key parts, depending on the needs of the photo:
Shaping clothes & hair
Skin cleanup, texture cleanup, fuzz cleanup
Skin discoloration
Eye enhancement
Teeth, lips
Hair enhancement
Advanced skin retouching
Color grading
Contrast & General Lighting Modifications
Contouring
It sounds excessive right? False. A professional camera picks up every little detail in a photo. This isn’t iPhone photography. I deliver massive, high-resolution files capable of being displayed on the side of buildings. Every small detail is notable (as clients love to remind me haha!). Makeup off? Every little jagged line or mistake in blending will absolutely show.
